My school is having a photomanipulation contest that ended on new years eve.
I decided to join and here's the result.
A few weeks ago I was on a trip to Gran Canaria. Among the huge amount of photographs taken, the one used at the bottom was the most fitting one. It was taken at a place called Maspalomas.
Since my time I can spend on art nowadays is limited, I didn't have time to start all over. As most of you can see, this image is based on "Winters Bite". I have created two new planets (painful, hehe).
Read comment below for more details on how the planets were created.
The planets are created by manipulating satellite images from NASA's visibleearth website (linked in description), and textures from various places like mayang.com.
Basically I've taken 20+ textures (mostly from nasa.gov) and then combined them, delete stuff, add stuff, using filters, clonestamp tool etc to create an image as far from the original texture as possible. After this, I draw lakes and other things by hand to get more variation. Then finally it's time for the coloring process. :]

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
